About the position The Engineer III, Manufacturing Engineering position at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. involves developing, fabricating, modifying, and evaluating parts, assemblies, components, sub-assemblies, tooling, and final products to support manufacturing departments. The role requires supporting manufacturing departments by collecting and processing information related to assigned projects, evaluating all information and alternatives, preparing and presenting plans, and recommending a course of action. The engineer will prepare and manufacture prototypes and participate in design reviews, utilizing the principles of concurrent engineering. Additionally, the position involves developing manufacturing processes, production line layouts, fixture design, equipment validations (IQ/OQ), FAT, capability studies, documentation, and LEAN techniques. The engineer will also assist the Packaging Engineering Team with packaging improvements and cost reduction of new and existing packaging components and products, assess and resolve packaging problems arising in production or in the field, and develop and issue detailed specifications for procurement of packaging components. The role includes designing and procuring equipment, machines, and tools, monitoring performance of equipment, and qualifying equipment in an FDA regulated industry by managing, generating, and executing qualification and production documentation. Compliance with corporate site and regulatory policies, practices, and guidelines is also a key responsibility. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study. • 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Process Engineer, or a related occupation. • Manufacturing Engineering experience within manufacturing, processing, or packaging automation. • Experience investigating equipment failures or difficult to diagnose faulty operation and recommending remedial actions. • Ability to generate reports using SAP and Dynamics. • Experience specifying system components or directing modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, and environmental regulations. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. • Experience implementing Root Cause Failure Analysis on systems or processes. • Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodologies. • Project Management experience. • Proficiency in engineering graphics.
