JobID: 316 Position Type: Support Staff Date Posted: 10/26/2023 Location: Multiple-Sites Term of Employment: Part-Time, maximum of 19.5 hours a week as needed and approved by the Director, contingent on funding and completion of writing goals Salary: • Successful completion of the Lesson Plan Writing training course: $250.00 • Remixed Lessons: $50.00 per lesson: paid at the end of each completed unit once the lessons have been edited and approved • Project Template Lessons: $200.00 per project: paid at the end of each completed unit once the project has been edited and approved • Thematic Unit: $50.00 per unit day: Complete Unit Package must be submitted and will be paid once the unit has been edited and approved Reports to: AZCTECC Director Location: Remote CTE Program Areas: Automotive Technologies, Accounting, Carpentry, Contruction Technologies, Diesel Engine Repair, Digital Communication, Engineering, Welding Technologies Position Summary: The Curriculum Writer uses subject matter knowledge and insights to develop a high-quality standards-aligned curriculum. The Curriculum Writer is responsible for developing and writing the Career and Technical Education curriculum, including informational lessons, operational lessons (labs), projects, and units in alignment with Arizona Technical and Professional Standards in the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium Format. Duties and Responsibilities: The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented. • Develop curriculum units that align with the Arizona CTE Technical and Professional Standards and Instructional Resource documents, including the Scope & Sequence and Task Analysis in the program area • Meet and work collaboratively with the Content Specialist to determine lesson flow and accuracy • Write lessons/projects/units and supporting material to specific design criteria as established by the Consortium • Adjust and revise lessons/projects/units as recommended by the editorial team Training and Evaluation: Curriculum Writers are required to successfully complete a Lesson Plan Writing Training course (~ 16 hours) and produce materials for a quality lesson plan reviewed and approved by the editorial team. A comprehensive lesson review will be completed upon unit and/or project submission thereafter using the AZCTECC Editor’s Rubric. Curriculum Writers complete an initial onboarding meeting with the Director, Assistant Director, and any other team members to discuss the curriculum development process. At this point a draft schedule for the program curriculum development will be shared, communication preferences discussed, and a schedule for support established Expectations: Curriculum Writers are an integral part of the lesson writing and curriculum development process. As such, regular, consistent, and timely completion of the lesson planning and review is critical. Curriculum Writers are expected to communicate regularly with a Content Specialist (as needed), Editor, and Director/Assistant Director to ensure timely progress of curriculum development. Qualifications: • AZ CTE Teaching Certificate in the content area identified for curriculum development • Two years experience as a CTE teacher • Completed or must complete Instructional Best Practices • Participation in an AZCTECC event (Blueprint & Framework, Scope and Sequence, etc.) preferred • Local CTE Director/CTE Administrator Letter of Recommendation Skills and Abilities: • Self-motivated, self-directed, and comfortable taking initiative • Growth mindset oriented • Driven to seek out and use feedback to improve and grow • Enthusiastic and open-minded in facing challenges • Collaborative • Demonstrates flexibility • Creative problem-solving skills • Attuned to detail and also able to see the big picture • Excellent communicator • Effective writing skills • Proficient in using technology including email, Google Drive applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (or Keynote) Preferred: • Knowledge of the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium • Participation in an AZCTECC event (Blueprint & Framework, Scope & Sequence, etc.) preferred • Experience in curriculum development and/or lesson planning and writing Application Process: Submit a cover letter, resume, one recent (within five years) signed professional reference letter, and a copy of current certificate (s) via the district’s online application system ( Open until filled.
